(or)
Ravi asked a doubt "Is sea water evaporates or boils?" ? Give the answer to him by comparing the two processes.
Answer :
There are two processes that changes liquids to gases. They are Evaporation and Boiling.
There are some differences between Evaporation and Boiling...
Evaporation | Boiling |
1. The process of escape of molecules from the surface of a liquid at any temperature is called Evaporation. | 1. The process of changing of liquid phase to gaseous phase at a constant temperature is called Boiling. |
2. Occurs at any temperature. | 2. Only occurs at certain temperature. |
3. The temperature of the system gets down. | 3. The temperature of the system increases upto boiling point. |
4. It depends on surface area, humidity, temperature and wind speed. | 4. It depends upon the nature of substance. |
Eg : Sea water evaporates to form clouds. | Eg : Water boils at 100 degrees centigrade. |
