What happens to the water when wet clothes dry?
(or)
How does the evaporation process takes place in clothes?
Answer :
- Wet clothes dry due to evaporation of water.
- The water molecules in wet clothes absorbs heat from the outer surroundings.
- The molecules which are on the clothes surface gets more energy and evaporation takes place.
- However, some molecules after going into air, return back and settle on the clothes surface.
- When the number of escaping molecules are more than the number of returning molecules, wet clothes dry.
- When there is more wind, the molecules which are escaped does not return back to the surface.
- So, clothes dry faster when wind is blowing.
